Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the 20th annual Walk & Roll will be a virtual event this year.
Please join us from you favorite walking or rolling location on Saturday, September 26th. We will be having a "Virtual Start" at 10:00AM via ZOOM. Be sure to join us on your phone, tablet, or computer!
About SBCC & the Walk & Roll
Formed in 1973 by parents, professionals, and adults with spina bifida, the organization continues to promote and empower the lives of all affected by spina bifida in the Greater Cincinnati area.
SBCC advocates for improved public services and transportation and connecting people with others in the community via social events and social media. In addition, we educate families, teachers, and professionals, about what it means to live with spina bifida and the resources available to improve quality of life. We also support our clients through financial assistance and small gifts when at the clinic or in the hospital to let them know we are thinking about them.
The organization relies solely on donations, grants, fundraising events and sponsorships to provide the necessary services for those born with spina bifida. All funds raised, stay in the Greater Cincinnati area and are tax-deductible (per IRS regulations).
In 2000 the very first Walk & Roll was held to create awareness about spina bifida and to celebrate the accomplishments of those living with spina bifida! Nothing has changed except that in 2020, our 20th Anniversary Walk & Roll will be virtual.
The Walk & Roll creates awareness about spina bifida, raises funds for SBCC, and celebrates the accomplishments of the families living with spina bifida in our 17-county service area that includes southwest Ohio, northern Kentucky, and southeastern Indiana.
The Walk & Roll is our primary fundraiser for the organization, and while we will be Walking & Rolling VIRTUALLY this year, we still need YOUR help to make the Walk & Roll a success so that we may continue to provide the necessary services to those we serve in 2021.
Why Walk or Roll? Why Donate?
Spina Bifida is the most frequently occurring, permanently disabling, birth defect in the United States, affecting approximately 1,500 babies each year. Spina Bifida results from the spine’s failure to close properly during the first month of pregnancy. There are three forms of Spina Bifida; Occulta, Meningocele and Myelomeningocele.
Funds generated from the Walk & Roll for spina bifida supports SBCC. The money you raise helps provide scholarships for adaptive camps/recreation programs, emergency financial assistance, and educational programming for those living with spina bifida in Greater Cincinnati.
